What does this mean for the designer denim market? My guess is not much, the Laurena nd Polo Ralph Lauren brands will replace Polo Jeans. Actually, I think they'll actually lose a little bit of ground, at least at first. Polo has a limited audience, more so than other designer labels, at least in my opinion. It is still a bit of a shock to the system though for the...jean market...which will continue to be dominated by DKNY, Diesel, etc.

Preppies Hold Candlelight Vigil, Shed Tears
Fashion purveyor to the preppy elite and preppy wannabe alike, Ralph Lauren, has announced that it is discontinuing its Polo Jeans line citing that the line had become "run-down, a bit over-promoted and over-distributed." However, the company also announced that within the next year it will launch a premium denim line for both men and women. They will be known, respectively, as the Lauren brand for women and the Polo Ralph Lauren brand for men.
